Govind Dholakia, fondly known as Govind kaka, epitomised the dauntless  entrepreneurial spirit of a visionary, who is always on the march towards enabling a better future for the people in society.

Acclaimed as one of the top diamantaires of Surat, he is lauded for his pioneering and innovative actions and his enormous contributions towards social and community welfare, including education, health, and other developmental activities through the trusts and institutions.

Taking us through how it all started, Shreyans Dholakia, son of  Govind Dholakia, brand custodian at Shree Ramkrishna Exports PVT Ltd, said, “SRK Knowledge Foundation (SRKKF) was initiated in 2014 by my father with the vision to develop effective and socially responsible individuals and organisations to enable a better future for humanity.

A natural-born mentor, his compassionate, resilient, visionary, passionate, and innovative approaches and his belief in “giving back to society,” inspired him to set up SRKKF. We are committed to creating a better future for humankind by developing effective and socially responsible individuals and organisations.”

When it comes to the rural section of the society, many young generations with proper skills lack confidence. In order to help boost their confidence, the team works together to boost their confidence, and inculcate leadership qualities.Through the workshops and other programs, they have helped over 17,000+ students with various educational benefits, like scholarships for higher education, and around 2500 youths with skill development programmes.

They also provide workshops on career guidance and counselling is organised for students in grades 10 and 12.“We carry out various initiatives to address issues ranging from malnutrition to AIDS, maternal and child health, and mental health. There is a need to strengthen the capability of the healthcare system through different approaches. While saving water has been a huge task for years now, many activists have been working together with a mission to save water. Indeed, by 2025, we plan to protect and restore water-related ecosystems such as wells, urban forests, wetlands, rivers, and lakes in order to permeate farming activities in surrounding regions,” Shreyans said.

SRKFF, along with the Center for Management of Health Services (CMHS) of the IIM-Ahmedabad, developed the first portal in the country to bring together the soul mates of HIV-positive people and the social issues faced by them.

Moreover, it also undertakes relief operations to provide quick responses to such unfortunate natural occurrences.Every year, many states in India witness floods, earthquakes, cyclones and landfalls. During this, several organisations, and NGO’s come forward to help the affected ones.  Talking about their disaster relief initiatives, he says, “One of the worst natural calamities took place in Gujarat in 2001. During this, we helped reconstruct two villages—Lutavadar and Manba—after they were destroyed.

Another horrific incident was in July 2020, Cyclone Nisarg made landfall in Maharashtra, and over 3,00,000 households in the coastal districts of Raigad and Ratnagiri, remained without electricity supply. Our team visited 40 villages in affected areas and distributed 200 food kits, each containing 43 kg of daily necessities. Along with this, 200 solar lights were also provided to light up houses and help charge smartphone batteries.”
