Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for asking the Modi Government to explain why it didn’t conduct a caste census in the last 10 years.

He countered the CM saying that he did not know which party Revanth had membership in 2010 when we approved the caste census.

Addressing the media in New Delhi on Thursday, Kishan said that every 10 years, a caste census is done in the first year of the decade.

“When the first census is conducted after the BJP came to power, the caste census will also be held. Rahul should explain why the Congress did not conduct a caste census so far. Nehru, Indira, and Rajiv Gandhi opposed the caste census. The Centre does not want to do a caste census mechanically,” he said.

Kishan said a caste census will be conducted scientifically in accordance with facts.

“We don’t need the wrong role model of Telangana caste census. We will go to remote areas and conduct a comprehensive census. The word ‘caste’ should be included as a parameter to conduct a caste census, and the ‘Census Act 1948’ should be amended. During the next Parliament session after the amendment is introduced, we will start the census,” he said.
