The people of Andhra Pradesh are curiously looking at the sequence of the CBI investigation and the court proceedings of the sensational murder case of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

The CBI’s aggressive and firm resolve to get at the root of the case by questioning YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy and his father YS Bhaskar Reddy has drawn the attention of the people of the state.

The hot topic in the State is whether the CBI would arrest MP YS Avinash Reddy in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The Telangana High Court also made it clear that it cannot pass an order protecting Avinash Reddy from being arrested.

The probe into the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case has taken a major turn with Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi just a couple of days before the investigation reached its peak. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meeting with the Prime Minister has assumed significance amid media reports the CBI is firm on arresting Avinash Reddy. “If the CBI arrests Avinash Reddy, it indicates that the investigation agency is working independently. The CBI is facing a litmus test now to prove its credibility,” a senior advocate opined.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy bunked the Assembly session and went to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speculation is rife in the political circles that the Chief Minister met the Prime Minister to seek his interference to ensure that Avinash Reddy is not arrested by the CBI in the Viveka murder case.

Now the State’s focus turned on the CBI on whether it would arrest Avinash Reddy, ignoring the pressure from higher-ups.In fact, the CBI investigation on Viveka’s murder case went on in a tardy manner for four years. However, after the case was shifted to Telangana high court, the CBI expedited the investigation.
