Will KCR become the Opposition leader like NTR & CBN?

Must read

Will former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao follow the policies of late Chief Minister NT Rama Rao and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu or will he strike a new path?
In United Andhra Pradesh, the late NTR and Chandrababu functioned as Chief Ministers as well as the opposition leader. In the Assembly, leaders of the House (Chief Minister) and the opposition leader are key posts after the Speaker.
The BRS Legislature Party has elected former KCR as the BRS LP leader. The BRS with 39 Members will become the main opposition party. The BRS LP leader will become the opposition leader and will have Cabinet rank.
After the TDP was defeated in the 1989 Assembly elections in United Andhra Pradesh, then Chief Minister NT Rama Rao became the opposition leader. In the same way, Chandrababu became the Chief Minister thrice and also the Opposition leader thrice.
After NTR and Chandrababu now KCR is the third person becoming the opposition leader after having been the Chief Minister for around 10 years.
Interestingly, NTR and Chandrababu became opposition leaders after they became Chief Ministers. KCR is also becoming the opposition leader after being the Chief Minister for two terms.
After being the opposition leader for two terms, Chandrababu became the Chief Minister a third time in 2014.
After Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation, Chandrababu was the first Chief Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh. KCR also became the first Chief Minister of the newly formed state of Telangana. But in the case of Jagan Mohan Reddy, it was the opposite. He became the opposition leader first and later the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, in the absence of KCR the BRS LP elected him as their leader. KCR is at present in hospital after falling in his farmhouse in Erravalli on Thursday night. So KCR cannot take oath as an MLA along with other MLAs in the Assembly which began on Saturday.
Doctors said that KCR needs at least eight months of rest. Whether KCR will agree to become the opposition leader or not will be known only after he recovers. KCR can take oath as an MLA before the Speaker after he recovers.
The BRS LP has given a letter to the Assembly secretariat informing that KCR was unanimously elected as the BRS LP leader. After the Speaker is elected with his approval the Assembly secretariat will issue a notification recognising the BRS as the main opposition and its leader as the opposition leader in the Assembly.
As the opposition leader has Cabinet rank he will have all the facilities of a Cabinet Minister. It is not clear whether KCR was elected as the BRS LP leader by BRS MLAs with his knowledge or not.
In the hospital, KCR was not in a position to discuss this matter with party leaders.

Whether KCR wants to become the Opposition leader or not will be known only after his recovery.
