Families who are likely to lose their homes due to the Musi Beautification Project visited the Telangana Bhavan on Saturday to seek help from Siddipet MLA Harish Rao. The affected people, many of whom had legally purchased land and built homes with bank loans expressed their deep anguish over the looming demolitions and pleaded for Harish’s intervention.
The people wanted to meet KTR and turned up at the Telangana Bhavan on Saturday morning. As KTR was not well, Harish and Sabita Indra Reddy attended to the victims.
One of the victims from Rajendra Nagar said,
“We spent every rupee we had to build our home, and now it’s being taken away from us. We are terrified and don’t know where to go. We are unable to sleep thinking about what can happen the next moment. We have permission from the days of United Andhra Pradesh.”
Another lady said, “My father worked in the RTC and my father-in-law in the railways doing small jobs. They brought us to this level. From here they expect us to grow and not fall.”
Another tearfully added, “We borrowed lakhs from banks to construct our home. Now, it is being demolished and we fear our children will end up on the streets.”
Moved by their stories, Harish assured them of his unwavering support and lashed out at the Congress government and the CM, Revanth Reddy, for allowing the demolitions and for ignoring public interests.
“Is Revanth giving his brother time to respond to a notice, while bulldozers are being sent overnight to demolish the homes of the poor?” he asked.
Harish said that the BRS would fight for HYDRAA victims and said that BRS lawyers will be available at the Telangana Bhavan to provide legal assistance.
He also urged Rahul Gandhi to intervene and stop what he described as the Congress’s “bulldozer rule” in Telangana.
The BRS, he assured, would shield the affected families and would try tirelessly to ensure that their homes and rights are safeguarded through the BRS Legal Cell.
