Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh has said that they will launch measures to strengthen the party from the booth-level from February. “We will allocate more time for the party,” the TDP general secretary said.
Lokesh met key leaders and activists in Naravaripalle, Chandragiri constituency, on Wednesday, and assured that the party will support its workers in every possible way.
Lokesh stressed the need for a movement at the cluster, village, mandal, and constituency-levels, and urged the workers to allocate some time for the party’s activities, stressing that positions in the party are earned through grassroots work, not by merely being around leaders. He explained that regular feedback from WhatsApp will be used to monitor their performance.
The Minister discussed the need for reforms within the party, including term limits for office-bearers.
“I am serving my third term as the national general secretary. The party should see 30 per cent new faces every two years to bring in fresh energy,” he said, adding that in the previous elections, the party had given tickets to those who had worked hard.
He noted that despite the difficult times, the TDP managed a huge victory in the Chandragiri constituency this time and praised the efforts of the youth and other people, apart from the party workers, who helped in the successful implementation of the Yuvagalam and Nijam Gelavali programmes. He acknowledged the trust that people had placed in the party with a massive 164-seat win.
“We are committed to the people’s hopes and expectations,” Lokesh said, adding, “We should never speak arrogantly. I have not forgotten the Red Book; it continues its work.” He also recalled the challenges faced during the Yuvagalam programme, highlighting the difficulties faced by the police and the commitment to taking strict action against wrongdoers in sand and liquor scandals.
Lokesh also reiterated that the party will soon launch special programmes under the Swarna Andhra initiative, and called upon party workers to actively participate in them. “We have set a new record with one crore memberships across the State, which is a feat no regional party has achieved in the country. The insurance scheme is already in effect for members, providing five lakh insurance for any accidents,” he said.
Lokesh stated that the coalition government plays a crucial role in the State’s progress, and stressed the need for patience and cooperation. He advised party leaders to stay calm, despite some individuals’ fiery remarks. “We must move forward with patience and self-control. Together, we will achieve positive results for the State and its people,” he said.
He also mentioned that he will continue to hold public grievance redressal meetings, like the Praja Darbar, to solve the issues faced by the public. Lokesh further said that all nominated posts will be filled by the end of the month, and that the party will soon appoint new municipal commissioners. He promised that both senior and junior workers will be given equal recognition, with promotions based on performance. “We will work with various models to strengthen our party’s grassroots cadre,” he said, urging the workers to remain alert ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections.
