When a citizen Sharath Kumar questioned on what is the use for laying down rumble strips, on Twitter saying, “Is it necessary to lay down so many rumble strips? It’s not just in one area. They are everywhere in the city. Citizens are facing back and disc problems due to this. Ministers must intervene for a safe ride on Hyderabad city roads. The GHMC seems to have decided to break the spinal chords of people who travel on T-Hub 2.O and Accenture, Raidurgam road with so many rumble strips. Dear fellow Hyderabadis, please share your views on this.”

To this, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao replied, “Request GHMC and the Engineer-In-Chief to make the necessary changes.”

All the netizens expect a speed implementation of any change to these rumble strips and seek a permanent solution.

Satish, a commuter, said, “The topic is in the discussion. So, everybody will share their opinion but do field engineers of the GHMC drive on these before implementing, because now to undo these many in and around the city requires money. Proper planning on rules to decrease accidents on roads must be spoken to by experts.”

Another motorist said that the rumble strips have become a serious issue for those who have sciatic pain and drive bikes in Hyderabad.”

Not only the individuals riding towards familiar areas, but people boarding public transport such as RTC buses also face the same issue.

A regular commuter Sarathi said that if it is under process for any change, then we would be more pleased, because the driving on the rumble strips is different compared to sitting in a bus. One cannot express the pain while bus moves on these and imagine at a stretch when we have to travel on the rumble strips.

“The body of the person vibrates on these rumble strips and when they get back home face disc ache. If not for youth then for the aged, the GHMC must come with less height or remove them completely,” said Sandhya, another commuter.
