At just eight years old, Miss Rumaisa Fatima, a student of Orchids International School in Hyderabad, is already making headlines with achievements most adults only dream of. She was recently recognised by the Influencer Book of World Records as a Young Influencer and Fearless Orator, officially registered on June 23, 2025.
From public speaking and skating to excelling in Olympiads, Rumaisa is a true multi-talent, having earned accolades not just nationally, but on an international level. She has also bagged the International Star Kids Award 2025 in the Public Speaking category, proudly representing India on the global stage.
“When I heard my name was going into the Influencer Book of World Records, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I actually cried! It felt like all my hard work had finally paid off and I was truly being recognized,” Rumaisa shares in an exclusive chat with The Pioneer.
Her journey into the world of excellence began early. “I vaguely remember receiving an award for a poem I recited in kindergarten. But the first clear memory I have is winning a dance competition when I was six years old. That moment sparked a journey that continues even today.”
While many know her for public speaking, it was actually skating that came first. “I started when I was just four,” she said, smiling. “My dad bought me a pair of roller skates, and we used to practice together in shopping malls. I love trying new things.” Her learning streak didn’t stop there—Rumaisa recently completed her 3-foot swimming training and is also learning chess.
Representing India at an international level was both “exciting and challenging,” she admitted. “But I had a mindset focused on winning. I regularly practice public speaking at home, where I submit weekly videos on different topics, so I felt prepared.”
Her love for public speaking began in early school years. “My real public speaking journey began in Grade 1 at Orchids International School, Langar Houz branch,” she noted. “That’s where my teachers and parents started shaping my skills.”
Rumaisa’s speeches begin with research. “I use Google and YouTube to make rough notes,” she explained. “Then my mom helps organize the points into a proper speech.” Practice continues in her room, where she rehearses in front of a long mirror. “I imagine the mirror is my audience, and I keep practicing until I feel confident.”
Her first public speaking video that made an impression was titled My Ambition. “Everyone said ‘Wow!’ when they heard it,” she said with a gleam of pride.
While standing in front of a large audience can be daunting, Rumaisa says the nerves don’t last long. “It’s definitely a little nerve-wracking at first, but with practice, it gets easier,” she said. “One day, I hope to deliver live speeches to huge audiences. That’s my dream.”
She has scored international ranks in English and Math Olympiads, thanks to disciplined preparation. “I dedicate at least an hour every day for a month before the exams,” Rumaisa said. “I solve model papers with my mom, and we stay consistent. My secret is simple: consistency, hard work, and focus.”
To juggle school and events, she uses a highly organised planner system. “I follow a routine and use three daily planners—one for before school, one for after school, and one for bedtime,” she explained. “If there’s anything special outside this routine, my parents help plan it.”
As events approach, she increases her practice sessions. “I don’t miss a single day,” she said.
When things get stressful or overwhelming, Rumaisa turns to her biggest supporters—her parents. “Just a hug from them gives me instant energy and motivation,” she said. “They’re my biggest cheerleaders and my loudest supporters, always encouraging me to do my best.”
At school too, she finds love and pride. “My teachers, coordinators, and principal ma’am were all incredibly proud of me,” she shared. “And my friends? They’re my biggest fans!”
Her biggest mentor, however, is close to home. “My mom is my biggest mentor—she’s the one guiding me through everything,” she said. “And when I feel low, it’s my dad who lifts my mood and keeps me going.”
Rumaisa accepts the title of “Young Influencer” with humility. “To me, it means inspiring other kids to focus on self-growth—not just getting stuck to screens and gadgets,” she said.
And what does she have to say to other kids who dream of achieving big things? “Stay consistent, be dedicated, and manage your time well—that’s what I’ve learned from my parents,” she advised. “Explore the digital world, but limit your screen time. Keep learning and keep growing!”
