A woman sarpanch allegedly attempted to commit suicide due to debt burden.
The saprach, Peddagani Lavanya, who was elected from Makloor village, borrowed Rs 30 lakh to ensure that developmental activities were executed in the village. She borrowed the money, believing that the government would release funds and she could repay the loan.
As the government failed to release funds, the moneylender started exerting pressure on the sarpanch for repayment of loans. Unable to bear the pressure, Lavanay allegedly consumed sleeping table in an attempt to commit suicide. She was admitted to the Government Hospital.
