NTR District Collector Dr G. Lakshmisha highlighted the crucial role of women’s empowerment in the success of ‘Team NTR,’ which is driving holistic development across multiple sectors in the district. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of women in the fight against poverty.
To mark International Women’s Day, the NTR District Police Commissionerate organised a 3K Run Rally on Saturday, drawing around 2,000 participants. The rally, which started at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium and concluded at Benz Circle, was flagged off by Collector Dr Lakshmisha and Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu.
The event witnessed enthusiastic public participation and featured cultural performances by students of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala, children’s skating activities, and a drone show led by women police officers. Senior officials, including DCPs K.G.V. Saritha, Tirumaleswara Reddy, A.B.T.S. Udaya Rani, and Krishnamurthy Naidu, actively took part in the rally.
Following the rally, the Collector and the Police Commissioner attended International Women’s Day celebrations at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, where they participated in drumming activities. Addressing the gathering, Collector Lakshmisha stressed the importance of women’s involvement in achieving the government’s ‘Swarnandhra@2047’ vision. He also underscored the need for women’s participation in the Public, Private, and People Participation (P4) Survey and reiterated Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s goal of fostering entrepreneurship in every family, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs.
Police Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu extended his greetings to all women and highlighted various initiatives undertaken over the past week to celebrate their achievements and empowerment. He stated that these programs, conducted across different government departments, aim to recognise women’s pivotal role in societal development and ensure they receive the support and respect they deserve.
The Police Commissioner also informed that the state government has introduced the ‘Shakti’ mobile application, developed by the police department, to provide women with immediate access to safety resources. He noted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu officially launched the app during an International Women’s Day event in Markapuram, Prakasam district.
