Former Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has challenged YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders to an open debate regarding the debt burden of Andhra Pradesh, which he claims has reached Rs 14 lakh crore.
He pointed out that debts raised through corporations were not included in the report submitted to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) by the previous government and were omitted from the white paper released on Friday by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Accompanied by MLC Ashok Babu and former minister Peethala Sujatha, Yanamala, now a member of the Legislative Council, addressed the media at the TDP central office on Saturday. He accused former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of issuing misleading statements and using his organizations to project false information. Yanamala indicated that privilege notices would soon be served to Jagan.
Yanamala invited YSRCP leaders to prove their claims in an open debate, either on the Assembly floor or anywhere else in the state. “It is ridiculous that Jagan, who has destroyed the state, is now shamelessly speaking about Dharma (morality),” Yanamala remarked.
He blamed Jagan for the state’s substantial debt, alleging that Jagan’s frustration stems from being sidelined by the BJP after his electoral defeat. Yanamala added that Jagan had gone to New Delhi seeking new alliances.
He contrasted the YSRCP and TDP, claiming that while the YSRCP swindles funds, the TDP knows how to generate and allocate money for development and welfare.
Yanamala asserted that the YSRCP leaders are afraid of the truths revealed in the white papers and are concerned about their political survival if the public becomes aware of these facts. He warned that the YSRCP’s future is at risk if its leaders continue their current behaviour in opposition. He also criticized Jagan for seeking Leader of Opposition (LoP) status despite being rejected by the people
Yanamala concluded by stating that once the Privilege Committee of the Assembly is constituted, notices will be served to Jagan and his affiliated organizations for violating norms
