As a run-up to the 11th International Yoga Day (June 21), the Andhra Pradesh government will launch the ‘YogAndhra 2025’ campaign across the State on Monday (May 26). The campaign, being coordinated by the Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, aims to promote the benefits of yoga among all age groups.

Special Chief Secretary MT Krishna Babu said various programmes will be conducted from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the state, district, mandal, and village levels. Yoga practitioners, instructors, volunteers and members of the public are invited to take part by registering with local health officials or visiting the District Collector’s Office.

Mass yoga sessions, theme-based demonstrations, and competitions will be held at notable venues including the Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple in Tadipatri (Anantapur district), Haritha Rock Garden in Orvakal (Kurnool district), Gandhi Hill in Vijayawada, and the Gundlakamma Reservoir in Prakasam district.

Yoga contests will be organised in three age categories: 10–18 years, 19–35 years, and above 35 years. Competition formats include solo asanas, Surya Namaskar, pranayama, and meditation; group yoga; and creative events such as yoga-themed songs, skits, drawing, poster-making, slogan writing, essay writing, short films, photography, rangoli, and quizzes.

Special programmes will also be held in NTR district, especially for yoga associations and practitioners.

The government has urged wide publicity for the campaign in both Telugu and English media to ensure maximum participation.
