The death of a youth at Bellampalli two-town police station sparked tension. The relatives of the youth staged a protest in front of the police station suspecting foul play.
The police, however, said that the youth was summoned to the police station after his uncle lodged a complaint against him. The youth, identified as Keerthi Anji (28) from the Railway Station area in the town, died after he suffered a bout of epilepsy. But, the youth’s relative alleged that he died of police torture.
The police officials inspected the police station and examined the CCTV footage. The higher police officials ruled out any foul play.
Anji’s parents staged a protest at the police station demanding action against the police. They alleged that the youth was tortured by the police.
