Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has termed the ongoing ‘Mahanadu’ organised by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) as a “drama”, and demanded that the TDP announce as to how many of 143 promises have been fulfilled. He stated that the one-year term of the coalition is littered with atrocities, foisting false cases against political opponents and misuse of the police with rampant corruption and neglect of all sections of people.
Addressing local body representatives at the party headquarters in Tadepalli on Wednesday, Jagan launched a scathing attack on the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP coalition government, accusing it of widespread corruption, political vendetta, and administrative failures.
Jagan alleged that the coalition’s first year in power has been marred by atrocities, filing of false cases against political opponents, and misuse of police forces. “Law and order has deteriorated, and the so-called Red Book Constitution is being implemented to suppress dissent with fake cases and witnesses,” he said.
Citing the arrest of former minister Kakani Goverdhan Reddy and cases against other YSRCP leaders, Jagan accused the government of targeting Opposition leaders while shielding its own. He condemned corruption in sand mining, liquor, capital city contracts, and quartz deals, contrasting it with the YSRCP government’s record of transferring `2.73 lakh crore directly to beneficiaries under welfare schemes.
Jagan criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to deliver even basic promises like free bus travel for women and free LPG cylinders. He also pointed out that flagship welfare schemes such as Amma Vodi and reforms in education and healthcare introduced by the previous YSRCP government have been stalled or scrapped.
Accusing the coalition of rigging civic body mandates by luring MPTCs, ZPTCs and councillors despite lacking a majority, Jagan praised those who remained loyal to the YSRCP under pressure. He vowed that ‘Jagan 2.0’ would be a renewed and more resolute version of his leadership, committed to development, welfare and holding accountable those who wronged the party and its cadre.
Local representatives from Mandapeta, Gollaprolu, Penugonda and Madanapalle were among those who attended the meeting.
