Minister for Home and Disaster Management, Vangalapudi Anitha, has challenged former chief minister and Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to present full details about the alleged attacks and murders for discussion in the Assembly. She criticised YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making baseless allegations against the state government, accusing him of attempting to tarnish its image. Anitha suggested that if the YSRCP has any evidence regarding these attacks, they should submit it to the government for further action.
During the Question Hour, Minister Anitha refuted claims that attacks on opposition party leaders and sympathizers were being carried out in a targeted manner. “Our government has been in power for just 50 days. However, the YSRCP alleges that 36 of their party leaders and cadres have been murdered, while ex-CM Jagan reported to Governor SA Nazeer that the figure was 31. The murder in Vinukonda was due to clashes between two groups,” she explained.
She added that from June 12 to July 23, 42 criminal cases were registered against YSRCP followers for attacks on TDP leaders and sympathizers, while 38 cases were registered against TDP followers for attacks on opposition party leaders and sympathizers. The government has been taking swift and stringent action against those involved in violence, booking specific
cases whenever incidents are reported.
Minister Anitha also emphasized that her government would take strict action against ganja and drug smugglers, announcing the formation of a Special Task Force to prevent such activities. The government is also planning to arrest the kingpins behind ganja and drug smuggling.
Minister for Water Resources Nimmala Ramanaidu commented that the previous YSRCP government reduced the Polavaram Irrigation Project’s minimum draw-down level to 41.15 meters. However, the current state government is committed to maintaining the Full Reservoir Level at 45.72 meters.
Additionally, Minister for Social Welfare Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy stated that the government would continue the Volunteer System in the state, with an enhancement of their honorarium under consideration.
