YSRCP complains against TDP over collection of info

Must read

The ruling YSRCP district presidents in Krishna and Annamayya lodged complaints with their respective district collectors on Sunday on large-scale irregularities in the voter list and demanded rectification. Further, the YSRCP lodged a complaint against the Telugu Desam Party for collecting personal information from the public by misleading them by stating that TDP will come into power. Former minister and YSRCP MLA from Machilipatnam Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) met the Krishna district Collector and lodged a complaint with proof and evidence.
MLA Perni Nani said that they came to know that there were irregularities in the voter list and explained about the bogus and duplicate votes. He informed that there were 50 to 100 votes in the same door number before 2019 and pointed out that similarly, the same person has the right to vote in both AP and Telangana. He further pointed out that a single person has the right to vote in a municipal area, in a village, and in separate constituencies. He informed that his party workers went house-to-house in many areas and observed these things, and when they asked the people staying at those addresses, they said that they did not know about this.
The MLA stated that during the previous Telugu Desam Party government, the TDP leaders deliberately included these duplicate and bogus votes and reminded that after the release of the draft list, YSRCP complained to the Chief Electoral Officer about such vote manipulations and bogus votes. MLA Nani sought that the Election Commission should investigate such bogus and illegal votes and take steps to ensure that every eligible voter has the right to vote in a democratic manner before the release of the final voter lists.
Annamayya district YSRCP president and government whip, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy complained to the Annamayya district collector that the Telugu Desam workers who are going door to door to check the votes of the voters are collecting the personal information of the people. He expressed concern that such collection in a way that takes away the personal freedom of the people will disturb the peace and order. He mentioned in the complaint that TDP cadres take the phone number of individuals and ask for OTP and alleged that the TDP workers are committing atrocities against those who do not have OTP and do not give personal information.
MLA Srikanth Reddy stated that for instance, in the Rajampet constituency, TDP activists went to a house and asked for information, and they were not willing to give it, so they were brutalized. He said that an investigation was conducted by the police. He pointed out that TDP is asking for personal information under Babu Bharosa and Bhavishyath ki guarantee programmes and they are deceiving people by misleading them that the TDP government will come in 2024. MLA Srikanth Reddy in the petition said that people’s personal information should not be collected atrocities should be prevented and democracy should be protected.
