Former MLA and president of the YSRCP SC Cell, TJR Sudhakar Babu, has stated that while they once held Sharmila in high regard as the daughter of YSR and sister of YS Jagan, her recent actions—such as collaborating with political opponents and engaging with media critical of the YSRCP—have led them to consider her a political adversary.
Speaking to the media in Ongole, Sudhakar Babu expressed his deep disappointment, saying her recent comments about YS Jagan were disrespectful and demonstrated a disregard for her father’s legacy.
He emphasized that if she continued to oppose Jagan, the party would not remain silent but would firmly stand against her actions.
He noted that while YS Jagan has upheld YSR’s ideals, Sharmila’s association with the Congress party, which once jailed Jagan, contradicts YSR’s legacy. He suggested that her actions seem motivated by a personal desire to undermine YS Jagan for her own gain.
Sudhakar Babu stressed that this issue transcends political disagreement; it is about respecting the values of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He highlighted that YS Jagan continues to inspire hope for many, and any attempts to weaken him would be met with strong resistance from the YSRCP.
In a separate press conference, YSRCP State Women’s President and MLC Varudu Kalyani criticized PCC President Sharmila, claiming she has become a puppet of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Kalyani expressed disappointment over Sharmila’s collaboration with Chandrababu and TDP leaders in spreading false propaganda against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. She pointed out that, as YSR’s daughter and Jagan’s sister, Sharmila once commanded respect among YSRCP members and the people of Andhra Pradesh, but her recent actions have tarnished that respect.
Kalyani remarked that Sharmila’s alignment with Chandrababu, a known adversary of the YSR family, is deeply unfortunate. She emphasized that no woman in the state believes Sharmila’s accusations against Jagan, who has worked to uplift women socially and economically. Kalyani dismissed Sharmila’s claim of strengthening the YSRCP, noting that the party won with a large majority in 2019 due to the public’s faith in Jagan. She urged Sharmila to distance herself from Chandrababu’s influence and cease making baseless allegations against her brother.
