YSRCP Political Affairs Committee member Dr. Dutta Ramachandra Rao is set to join the Congress party, as announced by Andhra Pradesh Congress Party (APCC) president YS Sharmila Reddy. The decision was disclosed following a discussion between Sharmila and Dr Dutta at his residence in Hanuman Junction, Krishna district, on Thursday.
As part of her district tours, Sharmila visited Dr. Ramachandra Rao at his residence, where she informed the media about his imminent inclusion in the Congress party.
Speculations are rife that Dr. Ramachandra Rao will be a potential candidate for the Assembly elections representing the Gannavaram segment on behalf of the Congress party. Known for his significant contributions to social service, particularly in healthcare for the underprivileged, Dr. Ramachandra Rao previously contested in the 2014 elections but lost to TDP candidate Vallabhaneni Vamsi. Vamsi secured victory with 99,163 votes, defeating Ramachandra Rao by a margin of 9,548 votes, as he garnered 89,615 votes.
Following the meeting, Sharmila addressed the media alongside Dr. Dutta and his family members and supporters. She emphasized Dr. Dutta’s close association with the YSR family, stating that he is a well-wisher. In response to a question, she confirmed that Dutta Ramachandra Rao will soon join the Congress party.
