YSRCP lodges complaint against TDP attacks

Must read

Outgoing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has appealed to Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer to intervene and ensure that there are no attacks or physical violence against YSRCP cadres by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) goons and activists.
Jagan Mohan Reddy took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the vengeful attacks on party workers. He stated, “The TDP workers’ attacks have led to an alarming situation in the state. The TDP gangs are on a rampage even before the new government is formed.
The YSRCP leaders and workers do not feel protected anymore. The Governor should take cognizance of the matter, rein in the perpetrators, and protect the lives and properties of the people.”
A YSRC delegation led by former ministers Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani), MP (RS) YV Subba Reddy, MPs G Tanuja Rani and Dr M Gurumurthy, MLAs Buchepalli Shiva Prasad Reddy, Matsalingam, and Visweswara Raju, along with former MP Kesineni Nani, former ministers Perni Venkataramaiah (alias Nani) and Kodali Venkateswara Rao (alias Nani), former MLA R Pratap Kumar Reddy, and Parchur in-charge Yedam Balaji met with Governor Abdul Nazeer to submit a representation on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The party leaders apprised the Governor of the TDP’s post-counting attacks on party workers and also sent a memorandum to the President of India and the AP DGP, seeking immediate action.
The leaders called for urgent measures to maintain law and order in the state and to address organized violence against YSRCP supporters and minorities. They expressed concern over the alarming situation following the General and Assembly Elections in Andhra Pradesh, where YSRCP sympathizers and supporters, particularly those from vulnerable groups such as the SC, ST, BC, and other minority communities, including women and children, are facing extreme acts of violence.
YSRC leader and former minister Perni Nani accused the TDP of resorting to attacks reminiscent of the situation in Bihar. He claimed that TDP goons had attacked the houses of YSRCP leaders, instilling fear among the populace, and targeted those carrying the YSRC flag. He mentioned incidents of broad daylight knife attacks in Nuzvid, where police response was allegedly slow. He reported that TDP goons were breaking into houses and destroying properties and that the Governor himself was surprised by the TDP attacks, questioning the state of democracy in Andhra Pradesh.
Perni Nani also highlighted that YSRC legal teams have been formed and activated in all 26 districts to protect their activists and support the victims. Additionally, the delegation complained to the Governor about the negligent and irresponsible behaviour of the police.
