The grand relaunch of Amaravati as the capital, marked by massive public participation and the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has caused panic within the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), claimed Minister for Medical and Health Satya Kumar Yadav.
Reacting to the YSRCP’s criticism of the event, the Minister said on social media platform X that their detailed commentary only reflected their growing unease. “Instead of explaining why Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, then Leader of the Opposition, supported Amaravati in the Assembly, they now claim he lacked awareness and later had a ‘realisation’ that led to the failed three capitals policy,” said Yadav.
He noted that the people of Andhra Pradesh had already rejected the three capitals concept in the last election. “Despite the clear verdict, YSRCP continues to ignore public sentiment,” he added.
Yadav reaffirmed the coalition government’s commitment to developing a world-class capital. “Is it wrong to build a capital that meets global standards? Is it wrong to plan for large-scale development with strong leadership and intent over the next three years?” he asked.
He said the Amaravati project, with an estimated investment of Rs 50,000 crore, would serve as a benchmark among global cities. “This progress has unsettled the YSRCP leadership. They fear Amaravati’s success will render them politically irrelevant,” the Minister stated.
He concluded that the capital city project, driven by the joint vision of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, had unstoppable momentum. “The people have chosen progress. YSRCP’s opposition will once again be rejected by the public,” he asserted.
