The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), in a reversal, deleted a tweet from its official social media platform X (Twitter) regarding the construction of the AP Secretariat at Rushikonda.
The party clarified through a subsequent tweet that the ongoing construction at Rushikonda pertains to State government structures under the purview of the Tourism Department.
This tweet was posted within hours of the initial one, which stated that the buildings were being constructed as Secretariat. The YSRCP retracted its earlier statement and issued a revised tweet on Sunday morning.
The official YSRCP Twitter handle explained, “In our previous tweet from yesterday, there was an inadvertent mention of ongoing Secretariat construction at Rushikonda. As of Sunday morning, we have clarified that the construction is being carried out by the state government’s tourism department.”
The tweet from Saturday night stated, “In an effort to foster development in Uttarandhra, Jagan has designated Visakha as the administrative capital and initiated the construction of a secretariat in Rushikonda. The TDP’s negative portrayal of this initiative is evident, indicating the party’s resistance to the progress of Uttarandhra.”
It is worth noting that the state government had informed the Andhra Pradesh government about the construction of buildings by the AP tourism department on Rushikonda Hill. During his current visit to Visakhapatnam, Jana Sena Chief K Pawan Kalyan attempted to ascend the Rushikonda Hill to observe the construction but was denied access, leading him to view the construction from ground level.
The tweet from the YSRCP received substantial criticism for falsely portraying the buildings as part of the AP Secretariat and thereby misleading the AP High Court. In response, the ruling party swiftly amended its stance, identifying the constructions as tourism-related and subsequently removing the original tweet. Opposition parties, notably the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), questioned the deletion of the tweet and sought an explanation for this action.
