YSRCP stages protests against power tariff hike in State

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) organised protests across the State on Monday, opposing the increase in electricity tariffs and demanding an immediate rollback. Party leaders alleged that the hike, amounting to Rs 15,485.36 crore, had imposed an undue financial burden on domestic consumers during Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure.
Protests were held in all 175 constituencies, with YSRCP leaders submitting memorandums to local electricity offices.
In Vizianagaram, constituency in-charge Dr Rajesh and ZP Vice-Chairman Siripurapu Jagan Mohan Rao led a rally to the Electrical ADE office. Similarly, in Visakhapatnam South, former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh and senior leader Konda Rajiv Gandhi spearheaded a protest.
Konaseema district saw constituency in-charge Vipparti Venugopala Rao leading a rally, while in Eluru, Puppala Vasu Babu mobilised significant public participation. In Nandyal, district president Katasani Rambhoopal Reddy led a robust demonstration, and in Prakasam district, Markapuram coordinator Anna Venkata Rambabu submitted a memorandum at the D.E.E. office.
Prominent leaders such as Devineni Avinash in NTR district, Donthi Reddy Vema Reddy in Mangalagiri, and Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy in Narasaraopet led similar protests. In Sri Sathya Sai district, former minister Ushashri Charan highlighted residents’ hardships during a protest.
