YSRCP to raise key issues in Parl

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is preparing to raise several critical issues during the upcoming winter session of Parliament. These include concerns over the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh, the Polavaram project, and the proposed amendments to the Wakf Board Act.
Addressing the media after a meeting with party MPs on Thursday, MP Pilli Subhashchandra Bose shared that former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had outlined the strategy for the party during the session and provided details of the key issues to be raised in Parliament.
One of the primary concerns highlighted by Subhash Chandra Bose was the growing harassment and illegal detention of social media activists in the state. The YSRCP intends to raise these matters, alleging that the state police are violating the rule of law by unlawfully detaining political opponents and activists, thereby infringing on their human rights.
The party also reiterated its strong opposition to the proposed Wakf Board (Amendment) Bill, which it plans to challenge in Parliament. Bose emphasised that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that the party will not tolerate any actions seen as discriminatory against minorities. “We will oppose the Wakf Board Amendment Bill and explore legal options to ensure the rights of minorities are protected,” he stated.
Another key issue the YSRCP intends to address is the Polavaram project, especially the Centre’s decision to reduce the height of the Polavaram dam. The party will demand that the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package for displaced families be expedited, highlighting concerns about the welfare of those affected by the project.
The privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) will also be a significant issue for the party. The YSRCP has been a vocal opponent of the privatisation move, with Bose reiterating the party’s stance that VSP should remain in the public sector. “We will strongly protest the privatisation of VSP and advocate for its continued operation in the public sector,” he added.
