The term of present TTD Trust Board Chairman, YV Subba Reddy, is set to end on August 12, and it appears unlikely that he will receive a third term extension. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to utilise his services extensively for the party in the upcoming election year.

Sources revealed that the Chief Minister has already initiated the process of selecting a new TTD Chairman and has reportedly shortlisted two individuals for the position: MLC Janga Krishna Murthy and MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy.

MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, who has previously served as an ex officio member of the TTD Trust Board, is believed to be actively lobbying for the post. He expressed to the Chief Minister that becoming the TTD Chairman has been a long-cherished dream of his. Furthermore, he has offered to withdraw from the next assembly elections and has recommended his son as a candidate for the Chandragiri seat. “It would be a tremendous opportunity for me if I am appointed as the TTD Trust Board Chairman, even for a single term,” he reportedly conveyed to CM Jagan.

However, the Chief Minister has his own considerations. He wants Chevireddy to assume key responsibilities within the party in Annamayya and Tirupati districts to prepare for the upcoming elections.

Additionally, it is unlikely that CM Jagan will select another individual with the surname “Reddy” for the TTD post, given that Subba Reddy has held the position for the past two terms. Therefore, he may prefer a leader from the backward classes like Janga Krishna Murthy, who has shown great dedication and loyalty to the YSRC party.

Janga Krishna Murthy, belonging to the Yadava community from the Palnadu region, has previously served as an MLA and as a member of the TTD Trust Board. Due to his strong influence among the backward classes, the appointment of Janga Krishna Murthy as the TTD Chairman could further consolidate the YSRC’s position within this demographic.

Subba Reddy has requested the Chief Minister to relieve him from his duties as the TTD Chairman, as he wishes to actively participate in state politics. Currently, he holds a prominent position in Visakhapatnam and the north-coastal districts. According to sources, he is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming elections in this region.
