TV anchor and actor Pradeep Machiraju is playing the lead role in Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, which is set to hit the screens this Friday, April 11. Interestingly, the film shares its title with Pawan Kalyan’s debut film, which had gained iconic status over the years. Despite this nostalgic association, the film doesn’t seem to be generating much interest.
Pradeep, who is a familiar face on television thanks to hosting several shows, hasn’t been able to replicate that popularity on the big screen. As per online booking data, most of the theatres remain empty with occupancy reportedly under 10 percent.
Sources say the timing of the release might be one of the reasons. “The IPL season is underway and many students are currently preparing for entrance exams and other aptitude tests. It’s just bad timing,” said a source.
Even though the film is backed by a big distribution house like Mythri Movie Makers, the lack of buzz has made it a tough sell. Directed by the duo Nitin and Bharath, the film is seeing a limited release. Despite the reuse of a powerful title, the film seems to be struggling to attract audiences.
Zero buzz & empty halls for Pradeep’s film despite Pawan Kalyan’s title?
