‘Zero tolerance to crime against women’

Kollu Ravindra, the Minister for Mines, Geology, and Excise, has strongly warned against crimes targeting women. He emphasised that such actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He promised that the government will take strong measures to eradicate human trafficking at its roots.
Minister Ravindra, along with participated in the World Day against Trafficking in persons (Anti-Human Trafficking) awareness programme held at Hindu College in Machilipatnam on Tuesday.
During his address, Ravindra mentioned that the negligence of the previous YSRCP government had resulted in the oversight of 32,000 women and girls from 2019 to 2024, as reported by the Central government. Ravindra also reminded the audience that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan had previously organised protests against human trafficking.
He emphasised that the current government is taking strong actions against those who intend to harm women and girls and declared that such offenders will face severe consequences. CM Naidu swiftly reacted to recent attacks on women and girls in Vizianagaram and Guntur districts. Both the CM and Deputy CM have given clear instructions to officials to take stern action against the accused involved in these attacks, he said.
Meanwhile, he announced that the government is planning to reintroduce the Yuva Keratalu programme, which was organised during the TDP regime. Minister Ravindra also highlighted the achievements of female students, praising their self-confidence and their parents’ support. He recalled the establishment of Padmavati Mahila University by the late Chief Minister Dr NTR in Tirupati.
Minister Ravindra mentioned that the Chief Minister is focusing on Machilipatnam Port works and taking steps to speed up the process. With cooperation from the Central government, many industries are expected to be established in Machilipatnam, leading to increasing employment opportunities.
TDP Krishna district president and former MP Konakalla Narayana Rao, SP R Gangadhara Rao, DEO Tahera Sulthana and others took part in the event.
