Must read

A significant milestone in cancer care was achieved by the American Oncology Institute (AOI) in the city by successfully treating a 13-year-old male patient diagnosed with a left inner canthus soft tissue sarcoma, specifically identified as Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). RMS is a rare form of cancer that originates in soft tissues, particularly skeletal muscles or sometimes in hollow organs like the bladder or uterus. While it can affect individuals at any age, it is most commonly found in children.
The patient had presented with a painless and hard mass in the left inner canthus of the Eye since March 2022, prompting diagnosis and subsequent treatment at AOI. Under the expert care of Dr Sai Krishna Kolluru, a Medical Oncologist at the American Oncology Institute, the patient underwent a comprehensive treatment regimen that included chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Dr Kolluru’s expertise and personalized approach played a crucial role in ensuring the young patient received optimal care and treatment.
Dr Sai Krishna Kolluru, Medical Oncologist, American Oncology Institute, Kanuru, emphasized, “The successful treatment of this case underscores the significance of early diagnosis and individualized treatment plans, especially in addressing soft tissue sarcomas like Rhabdomyosarcoma. Our multidisciplinary team’s focus on tailoring treatment strategies to meet each patient’s specific needs ensured a thorough and effective course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, resulting in positive outcomes and an improved quality of life for our young patient.”
