The event recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of students, teachers, and employees who have played a pivotal role in the Foundation’s mission to combat hunger and nourish young minds.
At the heart of the celebration were 12 outstanding students who were hailed for their academic excellence, sportsmanship, and dedication to co-curricular activities. Twelve exceptional teachers were also honoured for their remarkable contributions to education, shaping the future of countless children. Additionally, five Akshaya Patra employees were acknowledged for their unwavering commitment and service to the Foundation’s cause.
The event resonated with vibrant cultural expression through a captivating Bharatanatyam dance performance by students from Sacred Heart High School and Madhavadara Municipal High School, adding a touch of grace and joy to the occasion. Lending weight to the celebration was the presence of L. Chandrakala, District Educational Officer, Visakhapatnam, who lauded the Foundation’s impactful work in the region.
Dr. Niskinchana Bhaktha Dasa, President of the Akshaya Patra Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for the collective efforts that have fueled the Foundation’s success in Visakhapatnam over the past 15 years. He highlighted the dedication of students, teachers, employees, donors, and government partners, emphasizing that their collaborative journey has been instrumental in “Nourishing the Change.” Dr. Bhaktha Dasa traced the Foundation’s remarkable journey in Visakhapatnam, starting with serving food to just seven high schools and 5,500 children in 2008.
Today, Akshaya Patra’s Industrial Estate, Kancharapalem Kitchen, nourishes over 30,000 children across 132 schools. This impactful journey translates to a staggering total of 31,841,627 meals served under the Mid-Day Meal scheme over the past 15 years.
