18,236 tabs sanctioned for NTR dist

As many as 13,957 Class VIII students and 4,279 teachers belonging to the government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, Municipal, aided and welfare schools and residential schools in NTR district have received free tabs loaded with Byju’s app content as part of the implementation of the digital education system in the State. The State government has sanctioned tabs worth Rs.24.18 crore for the students and teachers in the district — Rs.18.50 crore for students and Rs.5.67 for teachers.

The tab distribution programme was conducted at the AKTPM High School at Satyanarayanapuram in Vijayawada on Wednesday. District Collector Dr S DilliRao and Andhra Pradesh Planning Board Chairman and Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu distributed tabs to the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Dilli Rao said that the State government distributed tablets worth Rs.16,500 and Byju’s content costing Rs.15,500 at a cheaper cost of Rs.13,268.

The State government wanted to provide education to the students of government schools in digital mode to help them compete with others, he said. He further said 8,502 students from ZP and Mandal Parishad schools, 2,955 from Municipal Schools, 157 from AP Model schools and 586 students from APSWREIS Schools received tabs.

Malladi Vishnu said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was giving utmost importance to education and also providing technical support to the students. To develop the government education system, CM Jagan has introduced several innovative schemes that are giving good results, he said.

Vijayawada Deputy Mayor Avuthu Sri Sailaja, DEO CV Renuka and others participated in the function.
