The police seized 19 red sanders logs and arrested 20 woodcutters in Tirupati district and 32 red sander logs in Kadapa district.
Task Force DSP Muralidhar told the media here on Sunday that on the directions of Kurnool range DIG Senthiul Kumar police teams conducted combing in the forest area in Annamayya, Kadapa and Tirupati district.
A police team spotted woodcutters carrying red sander logs at Venkata Padmavati institute located in Peleru road in Tirupati district. The police arrested the 20 woodcutters belonging to Tamil Nadu state. The police seized 19 logs worth Rs 50 lakh from them.
In Kadapa district, the police seized 32 red sander logs at two places. A police team spotted three red sander woodcutters carrying red sander logs at PP Kunta in Gopavaram mandal. The police seized 19 red sander logs and arrested three woodcutters. Another police team seized 13 red sander logs at Chintalkunta forest beat and arrested four red sander woodcutters. The 13 red sander logs worth Rs 30 lakh.
