Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh has strongly condemned the allegations against the ‘Pedalandariki Illu’ scheme by the Opposition as baseless. He said it is a prestigious scheme taken up by the State government with Rs 1 lakh crore. The Minister conducted a review meeting with the department officials in Anantapur District Collector’s Office on Tuesday.

He said that 21 lakh houses in Jagananna Colonies with complete infrastructure will be completed by December 2023. On the occasion, Jogi Ramesh said that the construction cost of 21 lakh houses being built is Rs 40,000 crore, the cost of land acquisition is Rs 25,000 crore, and the cost of providing infrastructure in Jagananna colonies is Rs 34,000 crore.

From the District Collector to the village/ward level Volunteers, everyone should make field-level visits at their level and work to solve the problems in the housing scheme for the poor. When 1.30 crore houses were sanctioned across India, 21 lakh houses were sanctioned in Andhra Pradesh alone with the efforts of visionary Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He said only with the cooperation of the authorities the scheme will be successfully completed. The government is making door-to-door visits to solve the problems of the people across the State like never before. Even the officials are visiting the houses to address the issues of the people. The Minister said that Housing Day should be organised every Saturday and all the officials should participate in the construction of houses in the layouts and solve the problems.

Housing Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain said that the Housing, Rural Water Supply, Power Department, Public Health, Panchayati Raj, and Revenue Departments should work with coordination to complete the sanctioned 21 lakh houses in Jagananna Colonies with complete infrastructure by December 2023. Some engineers working in village and ward secretariats are acting as if the issue of house construction is not within their purview. We will take action against such people, warned the Special CS.

Minister Ushasri Charan, MP Gorantla Madhav, MLAs Y Venkatarami Reddy, Ananta Venkatarami Reddy, T Prakash Reddy, J Padmavati, MLCs Sivaram Reddy, incharge MD M Sivaprasad, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, bank officials and others were present.
