Minister for Civil Supplies, Nadendla Manohar, has announced that 3,58,924 Metric Tonnes (MT) of paddy have been purchased from farmers so far during the current Kharif season.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the Minister confirmed that paddy procurement is progressing smoothly across the district. “Up to now, 3,58,924 MT of paddy, valued at Rs 733.91 crore, have been purchased from 49,022 farmers. The procurement process is being efficiently managed by the district officials,” Manohar said. He further revealed that the target for paddy procurement in the district was 3.40 lakh MT, and the actual procurement has already surpassed this goal.
Manohar commended District Collector K. Vetri Selvi and Joint Collector P. Dhathri Reddy for their effective coordination and efficient procurement efforts. He also praised the Civil Supplies department staff for their hard work under the supervision of the district administration.
“The farmers in the district celebrated a real Sankranti after four years, as paddy was purchased from all farmers and payments were made promptly,” he added.
The Minister also mentioned that an additional 10,000 MT of paddy will be purchased from farmers, with the government ensuring the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all purchases.
Housing and I&PR Minister K. Parthasarathi, Collector K. Vetri Selvi, and Joint Collector P. Dhathri Reddy were present on the occasion.
