The police arrested three youths in connection with the sensational rape, robbery and murder attempt on a septuagenarian woman in Palakollu town.
Talking to the media here on Saturday, SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi said that the accused B Nagaraju, M Mavullu and G Ramakrishna sneaked into the house of the 75-year-old victim when she was alone in her house on July 27, 2024.
The three accused snatched a mobile phone from the elderly woman, her bangles, earrings gold jewellery and silver ornaments. They also stole Rs 15000 cash. When the septuagenarian woman resisted them, one of the accused held her hands and another pressed her face with a pillow. Later they hit her head with a boulder.
One of the accused, B Nagaraju raped the 75-year-old woman. The three decamped with the booty. The daughter of the victim complained to the police who registered a case under Cr. No.224/2024 u/s 331(7), 309(6), 64(1) BNS at Palakollu police station on July 29.
The police teams examined the CCTV footage and identified the three offenders. The police arrested the three accused at Delight Restaurant near NTR Fish Market.
SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi appreciated the police team for arresting the accused in the case.
