Rajahmundry MP Daggubati Purandeswari has announced plans to transform the Rajahmundry railway station into a world-class facility with an investment of Rs 250 crore.
Accompanied by MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, MLA N Ramakrishna Reddy, and other local leaders, Purandeswari visited the station on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, Purandeswari revealed that the redevelopment is scheduled for completion by the Godavari Pushkaram in 2027. She also noted that Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw had responded positively to the proposal. Additionally, Purandeswari has requested that some express trains make stops at Kovvuru and Anaparthy.
Railway DRM Patil confirmed that the station’s development will extend to the east side and mentioned that there are plans to restrict heavy vehicle traffic on the road-rail bridge, pending approval from the railway ministry
