A three-member committee appointed by Andhra Pradesh Government to identify places for  suitable transit accommodation, including a camp office for Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and accommodation for senior functionaries in Visakhapatnam will visit the port city on Monday.

There are speculations rife about CM Jagan shifting government administration to Visakhapatnam from Dussehra hence on October 10, chief secretary to government Dr KS Jawahar Reddy appointed the three-member committee comprising Special Chief Secretary (MA&UD) Y Sri Lakshmi, Special Chief Secretary (Finance) SS Rawat and Secretary (Services HRM), General Administration Department to inspect the accommodations. After inspecting the ongoing works, the committee would submit a detailed report to the General Administration Department on the facilities being readied for the Chief Minister’s camp office in Visakhapatnam. Based on the committee’s report, arrangements would be made for the officials and ministers.

It may be recalled that on several occasions, CM Jagan announced to shift his office to Visakhapatnam. Recently, the cabinet also gave its approval to shift administrative offices to Visakhapatnam in a phased manner.

In the first phase, the CMO would be shifted and it would be operated from the port city with effect from October 24, 2023, coinciding with the Dussehra festival if the accommodation on the Rushikonda hill is available in full form.

Meanwhile, according to the sources, a section of farmers in Amaravati’s capital region are likely to knock on the doors of the High Court on Government Order (GO) 2004 released for setting up of a camp office for the Chief Minister and accommodation for supporting senior functionaries in Vizag.

If they file petitions in the HC then it would be turned into an obstacle hence CM was thinking of adopting a wait-and-watch policy for shifting the capital to Visakhapatnam. Further, the Supreme Court would also hear the Special Leave Petition (SLP) by the Andhra Pradesh Government in the Three Capitals case in December hence there are chances also of Jagan Reddy shifting to Vizag in December.
