In a heartbreaking incident, four children lost their lives after accidentally getting locked inside a parked car in Dwarapudi village on Sunday afternoon. The victims were identified as Uday (8), son of Mangi Buchibabu and Bhavani; sisters Charumathi (8) and Charisma (6), daughters of Burlu Anand and Uma; and Manaswini, daughter of Kandi Suresh and Aruna. All four had gone out to play in the neighbourhood when the tragedy struck.
According to the Vizianagaram Rural Circle Inspector, the children entered a car parked near the Mahila Mandal office and the doors locked automatically after they shut them. Unable to open the doors from inside, they were trapped for hours.
“The parents had been searching for the children since morning. They were later found unconscious inside the car,” the officer said. The children were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
