BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, unfazed by the concatenation of events related to Centre-TS tussle and the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to his daughter and MLC Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam, on Friday directed the party to gear up for elections. Leaving little to imagination, he reportedly remarked: “Only 4 months are left”.

The BRS’ party executive meeting was held at Telangana Bhavan under the chairmanship of BRS party national president. He called upon party leaders to get ready for elections and directed MLAs to conduct AatmeeyaSammelanams, thus covering their respective constituencies within two months. He said that by December2023 elections would be completed and asked them to work “only for bringing the BRS party to power”.

He reportedly said that sitting MLAs would be given tickets. He mentioned that reports of surveys were in ‘favour of BRS’.

Outlining the strategy, he suggested that BRS MLAs, taking every 10 villages as a unit, should organise meetings with party members, including local MPs, MLCs, MLAs, Corporation Chairman, chiefs of DCCB and DCMS as well as other party leaders. He said that people’s representatives should be among the assembled people “as much as possible”.

KCR lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party and said that the saffron party was unable to tolerate the development witnessed by Telangana in the recent past; hence, it had been hatching conspiracies to hide BJP’s incompetence. “The BJP is harassing BRS public representatives. Already Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and BRS leaders are harassed by CBI, IT and ED raids with false allegations. We should thwart the BJP’s attempts at harassment to any extent. Let’s face it. Our struggle will continue till BJP is ousted from this country”.

On MLC Kavitha getting ED notices, the Chief Minister reportedly said: “Tomorrow they might arrest Kavitha. We don’t fear cases. Let them do whatever they want. We will face it as per law. They are pressurising leaders to join BJP. At the most, what’ll they do — apart from putting in jail”.

KCR said that on BRS Foundation Day, party flags would be unfurled on April 25. Later, meetings of people’s representatives would be held in all Assembly constituencies from morning to evening. On April 27, the BRS would hold a state-level representative meeting at LB Stadium. Party’s public representatives belonging to various categories would participate in the meeting. The party’s Foundation Day public meeting will be held in Warangal in October. On April 27, the BRS will hold a state level representatives’ meeting at LB Stadium.

KCR said that BRSV (studentswing) should be consolidated. “Steps will be taken to hold meetings at stateand district level and form committees of the student union”. He wanted inauguration of the remaining party district offices, distribution of remaining double-bedroom houses to be completed after the election code. KCR said that MLAs should ensure that benefits reached the eligible poor in view of the government extending the deadline for applying under GOs 58 and 59.

Following the government’s decision to give Rs 3 lakh for the construction of houses on their own land, local MLAs should prepare proposals and send them to the collectors. The Chief Minister said that eligible persons would be identified as per norms with benefits under the Griha Lakshmi scheme going only to women.

The scheme benefit amount would be deposited in their bank accounts in three instalments of Rs 1 lakh each. KCR said all types of land owned by the beneficiary, be it government-granted land or patta, would be provided opportunity to build on all types of land.”Since the GrihaLakshmi Scheme is implemented in the name of the wife, if the land is in the name of the husband, free registration would be provided in the name of the wife”, KCR said.

The government will pay Rs 1lakh at the time of laying foundation and second instalment of Rs 1lakh will be released after laying the slab. The last instalment of Rs 1lakh will be given to the beneficiary at the time of completion of construction.

He said that MLAs would be responsible for ensuring that only intended beneficiaries get the benefits without giving scope for corruption in the second phase of sheep distribution. The distribution should be completed by May and June as per the modalities . In all, 3.5 lakh units of sheep will be distributed this time.

KCR said that government would start distribution of Podu lands soon. The party legislators have been asked to carry out the land distribution programme carefully ensuring that eligible persons get their due.
