In a ghastly road accident, four workers were killed when a speeding lorry ran over them at Mocherla village in Gudluru mandal on the national highway on Tuesday.
Police said that the deceased were cutting the plants, which were raised on the divider. A speeding container truck ran over them killing three workers on the spot and another died while being taken to hospital.
The deceased were working with a private firm and belonged to Mannetikota, Chagallu and Singarayakonda villages. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH for postmortem. The deceased are yet to be identified, police said.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MP Beeda Mastan Rao, who was going on the highway, noticed the ghastly accident. He helped to send a victim to hospital. The MP said that he would appeal to the Centre for the construction of a flyover bridge at Mocherla village which has become an accident prone area.
