4,096 new social security pensions sanctioned in Eluru dist: DC

As many as 4,096 new social security pensions have been sanctioned in Eluru district and the disbursement of enhanced pensions has begun in Eluru district.
A programme was organized here on Wednesday on
the occasion of releasing enhanced pensions by the Chief Minister at a programme in Kakinada. Speaking on the occasion, Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh said that 2,72,955 eligible people are being disbursed social security pensions in the Eluru district. He said that Rs 81.53 crore is disbursed to the 2,72,955 social security pensioners, adding that the disbursement of enhanced social security had begun in the district.
The state government has enhanced the social security pensions from Rs 2,750 to Rs 3,000. The social security pensions consist of old age pensions, widow pensions, fishermen, weavers, toddy tappers and others.
Collector Prasanna Venkatesh handed over pensions to some of the pensioners at the programme and interacted with them. The Collector also released a replica of the cheque on the occasion. ZP chairperson Ghanta Padmasri, state Sahitya manl chairperson Pillamgolla Srilakshmi, DRDA PD Dr R Vijayarama Raju and BC Corporation ED N Pushpalata were among those who were present.
