As many as 42 students of a tribal boy’s residential school, located at Jeelugumilli in Jangareddygudem mandal, fell ill with diarrhea and some of them admitted to the GGH.
According to official sources, the students had dinner with chicken on the night of Sunday. After midnight, they started suffering from vomiting and motions. The hostel warden informed the matter to the higher authorities and doctors.
Dr. Gayatri, accompanied by medical staff, rushed to the residential school and provided medical treatment. A medical camp was set up in the residential school. Food poison is suspected to be the reason for the students falling ill, officials said.
As the condition of two students Miriyala Harikrishna and Goutham deteriorated, they were admitted to the Area hospital in Jangareddygudem, Dr.Gayatri told the media.
ITDA DD PVS Naidu, deputy DMHO Mary Katharine, Jeelugumilli assistance tribal welfare officer Krishna Mohan, Tahsildar Venkateswara Rao and MPDO Mangatayaru visited the residential school and reviewed the situation. All the students were recuperating and out of danger, the health officer said.
Meanwhile, hospital coordinator Dr. Pal Satish said that the condition of the 42 students was stable and they were recovering. In a release here on Monday, Dr.Pal Satish said that two of the students were admitted to the Area hospital. The medical camp in the residential school would continue till all the students recovered, he added.
