Normally, IAS officers are shifted from their departments every three years, but in Telangana around 47 IAS officers have been holding the same post for more than three years.
The buzz of a mega rejig has been doing the rounds for months now but there has been no progress when it comes to transfers. In a few months, this will be 56 as there are nine IAS officers now who are holding the same post for more than 2.5 years.
At least 13 IAS officers who are in service were not transferred after 2018. Amidst the buzz of a mega rejig, ‘The Pioneer’ analysed the posting dates of IAS officers based on the data available on the TSGAD website.
Smita Sabarwal has the unique distinction of being the greatest long-hauler as she was appointed the CM’s Secretary on June 2, 2014, and has been in the same post for nine years now.
SCCL MD N. Sridhar who has already completed 8.3 years was recently appointed as the NMDC Chairman and is waiting to be relieved by the State government. Jayesh Ranjan completed eight years as IT Secretary on April 13.
Chief Rationing Officer B. Bala Maya Devi and Finance Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao have been in the same posts for seven years now.
This analysis excludes officials who have gone on Central deputation. Arvind Kumar completed five years in his post as MA&UD Secretary.
Nearly, 14 officers have not been transferred since the TRS came back to power in 2018. 30 officers have completed more than three years but have not completed four years in their posts while 12 officers have completed more than two years but have not reached three years.
Four officers have been in the same post for eight years, two officers for more than seven years, six officers for more than five years, and five officers for more than four years. Around 39 officers have completed one to two years and 64 officers less than a year.
V. Anil Kumar has been Secretary of Endowments for nine years now. S. Narasing Rao who is now retired, joined the CMO a fortnight after Smita.
Retired IFS officers K. Bhoopal Reddy and P. Rajashekar Reddy have been in the CMO. Priyanka Varghese IFS, OSD, was posted in December 2014 and has been there. Rahul Bojja was posted in the CMO in 2021. The recent admission to the CMO is Santhi Kumar who took over as Chief Secretary.
