State Civil Supplies Commissioner H Arun Kumar on Tuesday said that from January 2023, every person holding a rice card will be given 5 kg rice for free Apart from rice, and 1 kg red-gram will be provided at a cheaper cost compared to the market price at Rs 67 besides half a kg sugar at Rs 17.
He said that people who have Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana cards will be given 1 kg of sugar at Rs 13.50.
He said that during January 85 per cent of beneficiaries received free rice and supply is in progress for the remaining people. He said that on account of the Sankranti festival, the last date for the supply of rice and other essential groceries was extended till January 20.
He appealed to the cardholders to avail this opportunity and take rice and grocery from mobile vehicles at the doorstep, the Commissioner added.
