Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said that enhancing educational standards in government schools remains a top priority for his administration, and the government is prepared to invest as much as necessary to ensure quality education for every child in Telangana.

Chairing a review meeting with education department officials at ICCC, Revanth Reddy announced that 571 new government schools would be established this academic year in both rural and urban areas with more than 20 children, aiming to address gaps in access and infrastructure.

The Chief Minister directed officials to focus on language proficiency and skill development for students, emphasising that the curriculum must evolve to make students not only academically competent but also future-ready. “From high school level itself, students should be guided to acquire skills that will enable them to thrive in their chosen careers,” he said.

Highlighting Telangana’s rapid urbanisation, Revanth Reddy asked the education department to coordinate with the municipal administration to identify land parcels in HMDA and municipal layouts where schools can be established to meet emerging urban needs.

He also suggested rationalising various educational institutions run under SC, ST, BC, and Minority categories up to the intermediate level so that each school has a minimum student strength, thereby ensuring optimal utilisation of resources.

With many students now opting for residential gurukuls due to the assured quality of meals, uniforms, and textbooks, the Chief Minister said the same facilities must be considered for day scholars as well. He asked officials to explore the feasibility of extending these benefits to non-residential students in the same institutions.

Revanth Reddy also stressed the importance of counselling students to instill a sense of social responsibility. “Children must understand the role of family and society in shaping their lives. With regular counselling, they can grow into emotionally resilient and responsible citizens,” he observed.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, State Government Advisor Keshav Rao, Special Secretary to CM Ajit Reddy, CM Secretary Manik Raj, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Intermediate Board Secretary Sridevasena, and Director of School Education Narasimha Reddy.
