The Andhra Pradesh State Housing Department, as part of the government’s ambitious ‘Navaratnalu – Pedalandarik Illu’ scheme, has achieved a significant milestone by completing the construction of over five lakh homes across the State. These homes were handed over to beneficiaries by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a ceremony held last month. Encouraged by this success, the government now aims to accomplish the construction of an additional five lakh houses in the State before the upcoming Sankranti festival.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by the Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Employees Joint Action Committee, it’s evident that department heads have provided support to the employees in meeting their targets. This collective effort, involving all department employees, showcases a dedicated endeavour to ensure timely completion of the government’s flagship programme.
Furthermore, the department heads have shown commitment to the welfare of employees by extending benefits and promotions to deserving individuals. Under the tenure of Ajay Jain, who assumed the role of Special Chief Secretary of the Housing Department for a period of four years, around 400 employees within the Housing department received well-deserved promotions.
In recognition of the dedicated services of the employees in meeting the targets set by the government, 26 Deputy Executive Engineers were promoted to the position of Executive Engineers, while 52 Assistant Engineers advanced to the role of Deputy Executive Engineers. A commendable number of promotions were awarded in the administrative sector, elevating employees to positions such as General Managers, DGMs, Managers, and Assistant Managers. Moreover, the Employees’ Health Coverage limit was significantly raised from Rs 2 Lakhs to Rs 5 Lakhs, ensuring improved healthcare benefits for the workforce.
In a bid to address employee concerns at the grassroots level, Managing Director Lakshmisha has instituted a Grievance Day on the third Friday of every month. This initiative aims to promptly resolve issues faced by employees in the field. The government has also recognised and commended the employees who contributed significantly to the completion of five lakh houses by conferring them with merit certificates.
The Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Employees Joint Action Committee expressed their elation regarding the corporation’s decision to transparently promote all eligible employees.
General secretary of JAC, Dasaradhi Sarma, said that this marked a historic moment, witnessing a substantial number of employee promotions within the corporation. He applauded the decision to elevate health insurance coverage from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and extended gratitude to Ajay Jain, G Lakshmisha, and other officials for their contributions.
This remarkable achievement underscores the government’s commitment to housing initiatives and the welfare of its workforce, setting a benchmark in the State’s developmental trajectory.
