Telangana’s government hospitals have delivered 69 percent of the babies born in April 2023, with more than 80% of deliveries in government hospitals having taken place in Sangareddy, Narayanpet, Medak, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Across the 16 districts of Telangana, 70% of deliveries have been registered in government hospitals. Rangareddy district marked lowest government hospital deliveries with only 48%.Hyderabad stood at 77 percent at sixth place.
On this occasion, Health Minister Harish Rao Garu expressed his appreciation to the Health Department. He said, “The number of births occurring in government hospitals has more than doubled from 30% in 2014 to 62% in the year 2022-23. This substantial increase is a testament to the effectiveness of maternal and child care measures implemented under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister KCR Garu, as part of the Arogya Telangana initiative.”
The top four states with above 80 percent Government Hospital Deliveries are Sangareddy with 87%, Narayanpet with 83 %, Medak with 82% and Jogulamba Gadwal with 81%. Rangaredd, Bhuvangiri and Suryapet recorded the least deliveries in Government Hospital. The upcoming new government hospitals are set to improve these numbers.
