85 crore women passengers took RTC buses over 265 days: Ponnam

Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Government whip Adi Srinivas, the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks Limited chairman Konduri Ravinder Rao. inaugurated the 300 MTS warehouse of the PACS at Vemulawada. He inaugurated the PACS online services digital seva common service centre, the Karimnagar District Cooperative Bank Limited Vemulawada branch and ATM centre here on Wednesday.
Later, he distributed educational loans, housing loans, self-employment loans, granted by cooperative bank.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Minister said that the Congress government waived crop loans up to Rs 1 lakh in the first phase, up to Rs 1.50 lakh  in the second phase and Rs 2 lakh in the  third  phase and called it unprecedented in the country. Those who obtained the crop loans prior to December 12 in 2008 and after December 9 in 2023 could not get the benefit of the loan waiver, he said.
In 265 days, 85 crore women travelled by RTC buses free of cost availing Rs 2,500 crore worth free travel. Women have been travelling by RTC buses to travel to Vemulawada and Kondagattu temples. In Telangana, more than 70% of the population avail themselves of 200 units of power free of cost every month. The government has been providing LPG cylinder for Rs 500 each.
From September 17 onwards, as part of Praja Palana applications will be invited to implement the six guarantees. Similarly, applications will be invited to extend new ration cards and Indiramma Houses.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy earmarked Rs 31,000 crore for the loan waiver.
Vemulawada municipal chairperson Madhavi, vice-chairman B  Mahesh, Vemulawda ASP Seshadrini Reddy, Vemulawada urban Tahsildar Mahesh, Vemulawada PACS chairman Tirupati Reddy, directors of PACS and others were took part in the event.
