‘8K km of roads developed’

Minister for Roads & Buildings (R&B) Dadisetti Ramalingeswa Rao (Raja) has said that around 8,000 km of roads were developed with an amount of Rs 2,000 crore so far in the State. The other roads would be repaired spending Rs.17,000 crore and all roads in the State would be developed in the next 13 months.

Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation members’ swearing-in ceremony was held at the R&B HOD office in Vijayawada on Tuesday. 14 new directors took part in the swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Raja said that the State government was giving top priority to maintenance of roads. The State government wanted quality roads at a lesser cost and the roads should last loing. The Gajjaram–Hukumpet road was constructed on a pilot basis spending Rs.12.12 crore for 10 km by using high technology, he added.

He further said that on the direction of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, roads are constructed with quality and at a lesser cost. With the cooperation of the Central government’s CSIR, the State government was constructing quality roads which have been giving good results, he said.
