Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme on Monday on Telangana Assembly premises, announcing a major initiative to provide jobs to five lakh unemployed youth with an allocation of Rs 6,000 crore.
Speaking at the event, Revanth highlighted his government’s commitment to youth empowerment.
“After just 48 hours of assuming power, we implemented the free bus travel scheme for women and increased the Aarogyasri health coverage to Rs 10 lakh. Now, with Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, we are taking another big step,” he said.
The CM listed his government’s achievements, stating that in the last 15 months, over 57,000 government posts had been filled, 50 lakh families were receiving 200 units of free electricity, and 43 lakh families were benefiting from the Rs 500 LPG cylinder scheme.
He also emphasised the transparency in job recruitment and teacher transfers ensuring no corruption or favouritism.
Revanth announced that under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, financial assistance ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 4 lakh would be provided for self-employment, with applications opening from Monday.
The final list of beneficiaries will be announced on June 2. “This is not a party programme. It is a people’s programme,” he declared, thanking opposition MLAs for attending the event.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka called Rajiv Yuva Vikasam a transformative scheme that would change the destiny of Telangana’s youth. He praised the Congress Government for allocating Rs 6,000 crore for self-employment programmes, something unprecedented in the state’s history.
Slamming the BRS government, Bhatti alleged that for over a decade, youth were neglected, and SC, ST, BC, and Minority corporations were completely ignored.
“In just a year, we have given appointment letters to 56,000 government employees. Unlike the BRS government, which never conducted a Group-1 exam, we successfully held the exam and released the results,” he said.
Bhatti also revealed that job hopefuls had earlier struggled under BRS rule, with no clear job calendar or recruitment timeline. “Now, notifications are being issued as per schedule, and unemployed youth can plan accordingly,” he added.
He explained that Rajiv Yuva Vikasam is designed with precise implementation guidelines, and after a review with financial and welfare department officials, the framework was finalised.
The notification was issued on March 15, and applications will be accepted through an online portal, verified at the district level, and approved by in-charge ministers before financial aid is distributed on June 2.
Calling it a proud moment, Bhatti requested all MLAs to spread awareness about the scheme in their constituencies and ensure maximum participation.
He also said that bank coordination meetings would be held to facilitate the smooth disbursement of funds.
