The Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Nadendla Manohar, has announced that the deadline to avail of the first free gas cylinder refill under the Deepam-2 scheme is March 31. He urged eligible beneficiaries, who have not yet claimed their refill, to book their cylinders immediately.
Reaffirming the coalition government’s commitment to providing three free gas refills annually to every poor household, Minister Manohar highlighted that 9.8 million people have already benefited from the first free refill under the scheme. He emphasised that the government is dedicated to fulfilling its promises, particularly under the “Super Six” initiative.
The Deepam-2 scheme, inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on November 1, 2024, aims to improve living standards by ensuring access to essential resources for underprivileged families. The coalition government has allocated ?2,684 crore for the programme.
Manohar clarified that beneficiaries must initially pay for the gas refill through the standard booking process. The amount will be refunded to their bank accounts within 48 hours of delivery. In urban areas, gas will be delivered within 24 hours of booking, while rural areas will receive delivery within 48 hours.
The free gas refill booking windows are: April – July (First refill), August – November (Second refill) and December – March (Third refill). To qualify, beneficiaries must have an LPG connection, possess a rice card, and ensure the rice card is linked to their Aadhaar card. For any queries or issues, individuals can contact the toll-free number 1967 to register their complaints.
Minister Manohar urged all eligible beneficiaries to act promptly and avail of the free gas refill before the March 31 deadline.
