As part of an initiative to transform NTR district into a vibrant tourism hub, District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha has emphasised the importance of publicising customised tourism packages to attract and impress visitors. He instructed officials to make brochures visually appealing and informative, ensuring tourists are well-informed about the available offerings.
Dr Lakshmisha convened a review meeting at the Collectorate in Vijayawada on Thursday, with officials from the Tourism Department, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), and other stakeholders.
The Collector reviewed the two-day, three-day, and four-day tourism packages, analysing the destinations included, pricing, and tourist amenities.
He provided key suggestions for improving the documents, including enhancing the content with more descriptive details of tourist spots, refining package pricing, and highlighting the facilities provided. Dr Lakshmisha emphasised the need for widespread awareness about these tourism packages through strategic engagement with hotel and travel associations, and the preparation of comprehensive publicity materials.
Highlighting the potential of the district’s historical, cultural, and spiritual destinations, the Collector also called for the identification and training of local guides who can effectively communicate the significance and uniqueness of these places to visitors.
District Tourism Officer A Shilpa, APTDC CRO Suhasini, and other key officials were present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Collector, along with political party leaders, inspected the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) secured in the godown at the Agricultural Market Yard in Gollapudi. He provided appropriate directions to the officials regarding security, which included CCTV cameras.
District Revenue Officer (DRO) M Lakshmi Narasimham, Collectorate Election Cell Superintendent Chandramouli and others attended the meeting.
